In a life filled with meaning and accomplishment, Michelle Obama has emerged as one of the most iconic and compelling women of our era. As First Lady of the United States of America—the first African American to serve in that role—she helped create the most welcoming and inclusive White House in history, while also establishing herself as a powerful advocate for women and girls in the U.S. and around the world, dramatically changing the ways that families pursue healthier and more active lives, and standing with her husband as he led America through some of its most harrowing moments. Along the way, she showed us a few dance moves, crushed Carpool Karaoke, and raised two down-to-earth daughters under an unforgiving media glare.

In her memoir, a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling, Michelle Obama invites readers into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her—from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work, to her time spent at the world’s most famous address. With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it—in her own words and on her own terms. Warm, wise, and revelatory, Becoming is the deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations—and whose story inspires us to do the same.

Michelle Obama is an amazing role model and this book is incredible. If you want to learn more about her, check it out! Her Netflix documentary is also worth watching if you’re unsure you want to read her book first. You won’t be disappointed.

Michelle is so candid and so real. She is funny and truthful and most of all inspiring. She is a strong woman and an excellent role model for any female. She is truly her own woman with a beautiful, loving soul. As you read and see her life unfold it is clear that her parents did everything to encourage their children to be themselves, be proud of who they are. Michelle’s parents gave their children a gift of unconditional love by never allowing the problems they had as adults to deny their children opportunities to succeed. They always found a way to give their kids the opportunities to be educated, explore themselves and to love themselves. That is a rare combination and it is no wonder it produced such an amazing woman as Michelle Obama. I enjoyed every chapter of her journey into becoming the woman she is today and the gift she is to our world.

This autobiography is one that takes you through the joys and confusion of childhood which, I myself, wish I remembered so vividly. The account flies you through the bustling life of the Obamas before and during the presidency, highlighting the struggles that they faced—the unspoken challenges of being the first black family being in the public eye. The Obamas had to perform at twice the level as anyone else to receive merely half the credit.

I haven’t bought this book yet, but I am willing to! I read the sample and I need more! Michelle really expresses herself in this book, and I cant wait to know what happens next! Also, those of you who have been calling each other racists, are wrong. People might not actually like the book! I used to think books about girls in the White House where boring and stupid. I’ve grown up and realized, it’s actually history! The first African American as First Lady! I mean seriously! You might not like the book, but leave the Obama’s alone! They did nothing but be amazing, sweet, and helpful to America. Think whatever you want, but thus book is a must have! I can’t wait to see if Barack make one too! Stay safe! ❤️
