Now the subject of the hit documentary Scotty and the Secret History of Hollywood, praised by Vanity Fair as “full of revelations” and Entertainment Weekly as “deliciously salacious,” Full Service is the remarkable true story of Scotty Bowers, the “gentleman hustler,” during the heyday of classic Hollywood.
Newly discharged from the Marines after World War II, Bowers arrived in Hollywood in 1946. Young, charismatic, and strikingly handsome, he quickly caught the eye of many of the town’s stars and starlets. He began sleeping with some himself, and connecting others with his coterie of young, attractive, and sexually free-spirited friends. His own lovers included Edith Piaf, Spencer Tracy, Vivien Leigh, Cary Grant, and the abdicated King of England Edward VIII, and he arranged tricks or otherwise crossed paths with Tennessee Williams, Charles Laughton, Vincent Price, Katharine Hepburn, Rita Hayworth, Errol Flynn, Gloria Swanson, Noël Coward, Mae West, James Dean, Rock Hudson and J. Edgar Hoover, to name but a few.

Full Service is not only a fascinating chronicle of Hollywood’s sexual underground, but also exposes the hypocrisy of the major studios, who used actors to propagate a myth of a conformist, sexually innocent America knowing full well that their stars’ personal lives differed dramatically from this family-friendly mold. As revelation-filled as Hollywood Babylon, Full Service provides a lost chapter in the history of the sexual revolution and is a testament to a man who provided sex, support, and affection to countless people.

  • Very Educational

I found this book to be so educational not only on how Hollywood celebrities lived but that Scotty made you feel like you knew them personally. I felt like I grew a lot with this book. Great read!
  • Well Done

The book flows with ease through the whole narrative of an amazing life of an amazing human being.
  • Sex, being human, and a kind person

    By Alfonse Jose
I am jealous of a man who was ahead of his time with no apologies for being a sexual being and understanding of human nature without the restraints of societal mores. I would love to meet him one day soon. Thank you Scotty for your honesty and sharing your feelings of human vulnerability, fun and regrets and all. Alfran
  • Entertaining but,

in my opinion, a bunch of hooey! Sounds like he's written about his wildest fantasies, and who can prove or disprove any of it?
  • Trash

No literally this is trash. So much that most of what is written you feel the "author" took a lot of liberties.
  • Fascinating and so much more !

    By Andrea-on-the-go
I enjoyed every page of it. Too bad a proper movie of this book will never be made due to the still conservative environment in Hollywood .
  • Waste of time and money

Worst book I have ever read! If I could give this crap 0 stars I would. It is poorly written, full of obvious lies, and disgusting. I found it very horrifying when he tried to convince the reader that is was normal and even loving to be molested. He comes off as a complete narcissist and uses crude language. I'm no prude but there's no reason for him to go into graphic detail about his sexual escapades. He also tells such blatant lies that it is laughable and makes you feel somewhat sorry for him. I only made it a few chapters in when I had to stop reading. It must be very sad to live an empty life like he did. Please don't waste your money on this.
  • Good, but not totally surprising

I never like things that are incredible, just to do incredible. I don't like "shock jocks" and the like, and at times that is exactly how this book felt. If it could happen it did and he said the same level of friendship applied to nearly everyone, which seemed convenient. I liked the stories, it was a fast read and I hope everyone who could be hurt by this isn't.
